A Messy Surprise

One of girls in our Youth Group celebrated her birthday last week...and today her family drove away from the church for an eight-month deputation/furlough. I'm so going to miss her being apart of things. I was encouraged by her sweet spirit and silly, fun-loving personality.

The teen girls and I wanted to throw her a party before she left and there were two party stipulations: it had to be super MEMORABLE and...well, cheap (because we're teen girls with no money :). After texting back and forth with another girl we finally came up with the crazy idea of having a food fight! It was agreed on by all...this definitely will be memorable and pretty cheap, too.

Ketchup, pudding, jello, flour, cocktail sauce, re-fried beans, cooked rice and pasta, oatmeal, chocolate sauce, canned yams and spinach, and some kind of green "Halk" slop were among the appealing foods chosen for this messy surprise.

"Why would anyone want to do a food fight?!?" I was asked by many a person prior to and after the event. Well, I guess it's just something you gotta do at least once in your life. Yes, it was messy. Yes, it stunk. Yes, it was only 5 minutes of riotous living followed by an hour of clean-up...but it was worth it. :o)
